An Inside Look at DHH Mentor, Guide, and Role Model Services in EHDI and Beyond (2-9-2018)
This webinar introduces participants to the FL3 Guidelines for D/HH Mentor/Role Model/Guide programs. The guidelines contain suggested recommendations and best practices for quality D/HH Mentor/Role Model/Guide programs for families with children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Three different examples of program and services will be spotlighted, including instruction in American Sign Language instruction and exposure to Deaf Culture, as well as connecting families with adults with diverse life experiences, communication modalities and educational background. Karen Putz and Stephanie Olson, Co-Directors of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infusion at Hands & Voices, host a discussion with Danelle Gournaris, Program Coordinator for the Deaf Mentor Family Program at Lifetrack, based in St. Paul, Minnesota; Chelsea Tobin Paulson, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Role Model Supervisor at Lifetrack; and Karen Hopkins, Director of Early Childhood Education, Family Services, and the preschool and elementary programs at the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
